Spring Farm Parkway on the way

A major new road link in the Macarthur region that will reduce travel times and increase safety, the Spring Farm Parkway, is a step closer to reality, Premier Gladys Berejiklian said today.

Community consultation as part of the planning process for Stage 1 will soon be underway, and the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is now committing funding to start the design work for Stage 2.

This major new road link will connect Menangle Road, the M31 Hume Motorway and the Camden Bypass.

Ms Berejiklian said the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government are preparing for the future of south-western Sydney by developing better connections between residential areas, and key employment and recreation areas.

“Thanks to this Government’s strong financial management, we can invest in projects such as the Spring Farm Parkway which is critically important to residents and businesses in western Sydney,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“The Macarthur region is one of the fastest growing in Western Sydney and these improvements and upgrades will help to support the region as it grows during the next 20 years.”

The Review of Environmental Factors for Stage 1 of the Spring Farm Parkway, from Menangle Park to Menangle Road, will be on display at the end of this month, giving the community a chance to have a say on the proposed upgrade.

The first stage of the proposed Parkway has been accelerated with $30 million in funding provided as part of the NSW Government’s Housing Acceleration Fund.

Candidate for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said Stage 2 of the proposed new Spring Farm Parkway will now also be progressing, with $16 million to be allocated to plan for the extension to Liz Kernohan Drive at Spring Farm.

“An extension of the Parkway will provide a vital connection between Menangle Road, the M31 Hume Motorway and Camden Bypass, providing east-west link through the Macarthur region and ease pressure on Narellan Road,” Mr Sidgreaves said.

Liberal candidate for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith said the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government was committed to improving safety and reducing travel times in the Macarthur region.

“This funding will allow the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government to get on with planning the second stage of this important future road connection and is further proof this government is working hard for the people of western Sydney,” Mr Smith said.

The community can attend drop-in sessions in March at various locations to speak with the project team, provide feedback and learn more about the proposal.

Feedback on the Review of Environmental Factors for the first stage of the project will be invited until late March and be considered when finalising the proposal.
