Campbell Road land bridge
Project overview
In 2023, Transport for NSW will start work on the Campbell Road land bridge, which will connect Sydney Park with 2.5-hectares of new, public open space at St Peters Interchange.

To comment on the land bridge, visit the consultation portal.
The land bridge will cross four lanes of busy Campbell Road and will be for the exclusive use of walkers, cyclists and users of mobility equipment.
The bridge will be planted with native trees and vegetation specific to the local area, creating a continuous line of natural environment over the road corridor.
The land bridge will reflect the story of the Gadigal people of inner-Sydney, drawing on knowledge and memory to bring it to life.
The bridge might also be used as a location for small scale events, including markets, performances and educational workshops.

The land bridge will deliver long-term benefits to the local community and ensure Transport meets a key condition of building the WestConnex M8 Motorway. Project information
Transport is calling for community feedback on a range of issues, including:
- the reflection of the area’s Aboriginal cultural heritage in the land bridge’s urban and landscape design
- walking and cycling connections with the local road network
- access for people with limited mobility
- the proposal to use land bridge for small events, such as markets and performances
- the types of trees and native vegetation on the bridge deck and approaches
- potential construction impacts.
Transport is working with urban designers, led by an Aboriginal design team, to develop concept designs for the bridge deck, as well as its connections to Sydney Park.
Transport will engage with the community about these designs as they are developed.
The plantings on the bridge deck will be drawn from species native to the inner-Sydney environment.
The land bridge will connect Sydney Park with 2.5-hectares of public open space on the southern side of Campbell Road. Transport plans to develop this area after work on the WestConnex motorway tunnels is complete in 2023.
Transport will consult with the community on proposed uses and designs for the open space in the first half of 2023.
The Campbell Road land bridge will form a continuous connection between Sydney Park and a new open space area in St Peters Interchange (indicative design only intended to demonstrate location and general appearance – design subject to change)
The land bridge will connect Sydney Park with 2.5-hectatres of new open space within St Peters Interchange – Transport is developing concept options for the open space area and will publish for public comment in 2023 (indicative design only intended to demonstrate location – design subject to change)
