Fixing Country Roads and Fixing Country Rail

This measure shows the number of projects which have had funding made available to them and the number of completed projects in the Fixing Country Roads and Fixing Country Rail programs.

Fixing Country Roads and Fixing Country Rail are NSW Government programs providing almost $1 billion of targeted Restart NSW funding for regional freight infrastructure projects. The program aims to improve freight connectivity.

Fixing Country Roads and Fixing Country Rail supports regional NSW jobs, growth and economic productivity by reducing the cost of getting goods to market. As costs come down, consumers benefit at the till of their local supermarket and exporters become more competitive.

  • Programs covered are Fixing Country Roads and Fixing Country RailThese programs have funding of $543 million and $400 million respectively.
  • Funding was allocated to the Fixing Country Truck Washes program in 2016-17, the NSW Government made available $4,578,723 which was matched by the Australian Government.
  • Projects to construct new truck washes or upgrading existing truck washes are now part of the Fixing Country Roads program.
Limitations
  • Projects with committed funding may also be subject to approval of business cases. 
  • The visualisation covers projects announced.Some projects which have had funding made available to them may later not proceed.
  • Pilot round funds are not from Restart NSW. Fixing Country Rail Pilot round was an additional $15 million.  
  • Truck Washes includes total Restart NSW and federal funding which was a 50:50 split.
  • Businesses cases are not included as projects.
